ARL hosted its 10th Annual Leadership Symposium for master of library and information science (MLIS) students participating in ARL diversity recruitment programs during the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, January 23–26, 2014. The ARL Leadership Symposium curriculum focuses on topics related to the major strategic areas of ARL, as well as transitioning into, and building career networks in, research libraries and archives. This year, 38 students participated in the three-day event, which provided them with valuable networking opporunities as well as professional development.

This annual event is a component of the ARL Diversity and Leadership Programs, including the Career Enhancement Program (CEP), the Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce (IRDW), the ARL/Music Library Association (MLA) Diversity and Inclusion Initiative (DII), and the ARL/Society of American Archivists (SAA) Mosaic Program.

For additional information about the event and a link to the program agenda, visit the ARL Annual Leadership Symposium webpage.

Support for the ARL Leadership Symposium was provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, ARL member Libraries, OCLC, EBSCO, Preservation Technologies, and MIT Libraries.
