ARL has developed an interactive web interface that facilitates exploration of the database of text mined from university, library, and IT strategic plans as part of ARL’s Strategic Thinking and Design (ST&D) process. In the initial stages of the project, the ST&D research team used text mining to better understand commonalities among the strategic plans and to help identify distinctive areas within the corpus of documents. The team used this information to help guide further areas of inquiry and discussion, such as a close reading of a sample of the strategic plan documents and the interviews with leaders of collaborative projects. You can explore the text mined by the ST&D team and filter it by institution, region, or organization type in the interactive strategic plan database on the ARL website.
