Carleton University has announced the first International Summit on Accessibility, to be held July 12–15, 2014, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This is the first international conference to promote access and inclusion in all aspects of life for persons with disabilities.

With the theme of “Making it Happen: From Intention to Action,” the summit will feature experts from around the world, providing an opportunity for colleges and universities, service organizations, governments, hospitals, and others who want to review best practices and create action.

In particular, the conference will highlight:

  • Innovative approaches to accessibility
  • Technology’s role in contributing to accessibility
  • Concepts and collaborations needed to create accessible communities

Throughout these themes, special emphasis will be placed on employment. Also included will be an “Avenue of Possibilities”—an exhibit featuring some of the best accessibility ideas from around the world.

Registration will open in December 2013.

For more details, including registration fees and a preliminary program, see the International Summit on Accessibility website.
