The Fulbright Scholar Program has selected Andrea Malone—an ARL Leadership & Career Development Program fellow and the University of Houston (UH) foreign language and ethnic studies librarian—to serve as a Fulbright specialist in library science for a five-year term. The Fulbright Specialist Program awards grants to US scholars and professionals to engage in short-term, collaborative projects at universities in over 140 countries. Malone’s research focus will be matched with an overseas host institution, where she will work on a cross-national topic that aims to strengthen institutional development needs. Through this opportunity, Malone hopes to develop new strategies for better serving international students at UH by “explor[ing] the different types of libraries they experience in their home countries” and learning from the various cultures she encounters.

For more details about Malone’s work and her Fulbright appointment, see the February 10, 2014, University of Houston Libraries’ News blog post, “UH Librarian Named Fulbright Specialist.”
