Call for Proposals: Library Assessment Conference 2012

All proposals due by March 30, 2012

Washington, DC—The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the University of Virginia Library, the University of Washington Libraries, and the Conference Planning Committee are pleased to issue this call for proposals for the 2012 Library Assessment Conference: Building Effective, Sustainable, Practical Assessment, to be held in Charlottesville, Virginia, October 29-31, 2012.

The conference goal is to build and further a vibrant library assessment community by bringing together interested practitioners and researchers who have responsibility or interest in the broad field of library assessment. The conference provides a mix of invited speakers, contributed papers and posters, and workshops that stimulate discussion and provide workable ideas for effective, practical and sustainable library assessment. This biennial conference builds on the success of the first three conferences held in Charlottesville (2006), Seattle (2008), and Baltimore (2010).

Proposal Topics

Proposals are invited as either papers or posters that cover any aspect of library assessment. The Conference Planning Committee especially encourages proposals in the following areas:

• Collaborative assessment
• Digital libraries
• Information resources, collections, and e-metrics
• Learning outcomes
• Management information
• Methods and tools
• Organizational issues
• Performance measurement and measures
• Return on investment (ROI)
• Services
• Space planning and use
• Special collections
• Usability
• User needs
• Value and impact

All proposals are due by March 30, 2012.
