ARL Recruits for Library Relations Coordinator, Statistics and Measurement Program

Washington DC—The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) invites applications for the position Library Relations Coordinator, Statistics and Measurement Program.

Objective

The Library Relations Coordinator is charged with designing and providing instruction, advice, and guidance to participants and interested parties in how to most effectively use survey instruments, assessment tools, and other methods for library service quality improvements. The coordinator will also contribute to the design of training and other sponsored events. This position supports the agenda of the ARL Statistics and Measurement Program. This person works collaboratively with other staff members to support the suite of assessment services developed by ARL known as StatsQUAL and including ARL Statistics, LibQUAL+, ClimateQUAL, MINES for Libraries, and DigiQUAL. The goal is to help libraries that are engaged in deploying assessment tools understand how they can maximize the use of the results to improve their operations.

Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Library Relations Coordinator are to provide information about service quality improvement tools and techniques to participants and other interested parties at conferences and other events; help libraries understand how to effectively use assessment tools and use the results to improve library services; maintain communication with participants about the status of their surveys; and assess training and communication to continually provide the best training and high-quality communication for those interested in attending the events organized and offered by the Statistics and Measurement Program. The Coordinator will work closely with other Statistics and Measurement staff to plan and publicize events, market services, and keep participants informed of Statistics and Measurement Program operations.

Skills

Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate effectively with libraries and interested parties. Proactive service orientation in anticipating needs and designing services that exceed customer expectations. Good organizational skills. Attention to detail. Knowledge of assessment methods and proven record of analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing data.

Experience

Demonstrated ability to communicate both theoretical and practical instruction with a large, diverse group of users. Experience working in a library or related organization.

Supervision Received

Reports to the ARL Statistics and Measurement Program Director.

Schedule

Starting date immediately. Flexible 35 hr/week. Part-time option available. Monday–Friday, 9:00–5:00 schedule.
