ARL Publishes Supplementary Statistics 2006–2007 and 2007–2008

Washington DC—The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has published the ARL Supplementary Statistics for 2006–2007 and 2007–2008, the latest in a series of annual publications that describe the collections, staffing, and expenditures for electronic resources in ARL libraries. Of these member libraries, 113 are university libraries (14 in Canada, 99 in the US); the remaining 10 are public, governmental, and private research libraries (2 in Canada, 8 in the US).

In 2006–2007 ARL libraries reported 787,625 virtual reference transactions; this increased to 1,072,452 in 2007–2008. Likewise the number of electronic books held in ARL libraries increased from 25,006,758 in 2006–2007 to 32,329,187 in 2007–2008.
