Description
UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
Thompson Rivers University
Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is seeking an experienced and innovative librarian leader who thinks strategically and can develop and implement a shared vision to advance the University’s and the Library’s goals.
This is an exciting time in the continuing development of TRU. The University is a member of the Research University Council of British Columbia, and the integration of research, creative practice and innovation into teaching and learning in over 40 degree options and 50 diploma and certificate programs is a priority. With Masters degree programs in Business Administration, Education, and Environmental Science, TRU continues to build strength in a number of research areas. Currently TRU has an on-campus student population of over 14,500 and enrolls a further 11,100 students in open and distance education with courses and programs through its Open Learning division. The campus is now home of award winning architecture, a vibrant culturally diverse student population and Canada’s first new Law School in over thirty years.
Reporting to the Provost & Vice-President Academic, the University Librarian is a member of the Provost’s Council and provides visionary leadership in all areas of the Library’s operations and development. The successful candidate will hold a graduate degree in Library and Information Studies and bring a demonstrated record of successful administration experience in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility. S/he will have a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary issues and challenges affecting academic libraries, and the collaborative and communication skills necessary to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. As part of its commitment to Employment Equity, TRU encourages applications from qualified members of the four designated groups: women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and visible minorities. Applicants are invited to identify themselves if they belong to any of the four designated groups.
