POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the LTMS (Library Technology Management and Services) Research and Development Team, this tenure-track Library faculty position focuses on highly innovative library-technology-oriented assessment and other research with emphasis on projects involving programming or other software development; outreach, marketing, development activities and initiatives; and works closely with other LTMS staff, library faculty and staff, the TTU community (especially the Computer Science, Engineering, etc. departments), other academic institutions, and other partners in a variety of collaborative ways.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Exemplifies work performance, attitude, and ethics that are highly collaborative, high-productivity and measureable-results in nature, and highly autonomous but also team-oriented.
• Works closely with the Library Communications and Marketing Office and the LTMS Teams on LTMS and library marketing initiatives, programs, and other activities.
• Is heavily engaged in LTMS and library assessment activities, other relevant research activities, and in associated interpretive development of LTMS/library services.
• Leads and/or significantly contributes to LTMS (and perhaps other library) research and development projects involving computer programming, software development and/or web development.
• Software development will be done in a collaborative manner with the LTMS Development (programming) group and documented.
• Plans, collaborates, and otherwise participates in LTMS faculty outreach activities to develop beneficial partnerships, activities, and events.
• Serves as a member on (or as a resource to) library committees, teams, and task forces as appointed or as circumstances warrant.
• May serve as a mentor or a protégé within the LTMS department and/or amongst the Library faculty.
• Supports, sustains, and interdependently fulfills the LTMS Research and Development Team Charge.
• Pursues relevant and appropriate professional development and service activities that align with and support the mission and vision of the Library and the University.
• Follows established and published policies and procedures of the University.
• Reports to the Lead of the LTMS Research and Development (R&D) Team.
• Supports and sustains the Library’s administrative leadership.
• Engage in scholarly pursuit and other professional and service activities in accordance with Texas Tech University Libraries’ Standards for promotion and tenure.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program or international equivalent. Preferred: 2 years minimum of computer programming experience and/or Computer Science course work. Experience in Software Development, Database Management, Information Architecture, and Computer Architecture. Java, C , C#, Python, SQL, HTML5, XML, CSS, or any other tools for software or web development.
Experience writing documentation for various phases of software development and associated support. Evidence of ability to meet Texas Tech Library’s requirements for promotion and tenure.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: The position is a 12-month appointment with a nationally
competitive salary. Librarians and archivists have academic status and are an integral part
