RESPONSIBILITIES: This is an entry level professional position. Under the direction of the Head of Collections and Assessment, the Electronic Resources Librarian provides leadership in: developing, delivering, maintaining and assessing the Library's collection of electronic resources by working cooperatively with designated staff. Responsible for assisting in the implementation and managing electronic resource management applications in a collegial and team environment including, but not limited to, SFX and Metalib including assisting with system upgrades, also creates, maintains and analyzes statistical reports for the Libraries’ electronic resources. The Electronic Resources Librarian must also keep abreast of developments in electronic resources to maintain current awareness of information tools and technology in order to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and community users of Texas Tech University Libraries. In addition, the position requires service on various teams and committees as assigned as well as other duties in support of Collections and Assessment and the Libraries. The incumbent is also expected to engage in scholarly pursuit and other professional activities in accordance with Texas Tech Library’s standards for promotion and tenure.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS from an ALA accredited library program. Preferred: Experience (professional or non-professional) in an academic library using an integrated library system. Must have experience with current computer operating systems and a demonstrated ability to formulate and implement plans, goals and objectives regarding the development and maintenance of library applications software. Candidate must have a strong customer service orientation with advanced analytical and problem solving skills to assess and respond to administrative/management issues and technical challenges. They must be able to work in a team-based environment and with all levels of staff. Candidate must have awareness of technological trends, issues and accepted practices in areas of responsibility; a technical aptitude to learn new products and grasp new techniques quickly. Additionally must have demonstrated organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. Knowledge of open URL resolvers, federated search engines, CSS and SQL.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: The position is a 12-month appointment with a nationally
competitive salary. Librarians and archivists have academic status and are an integral part
