Description

Government Resources and Information Services Librarian The University of Alabama seeks a librarian with a collaborative and innovative approach to government documents and information services. Reporting to the Head of Gorgas Information Services, this position maintains the government documents collection, supervises staff and student workers. The University of Alabama is a Regional Depository Library and this position will be the primary contact with GPO. The position oversees processing of materials and collaborates with the Head of Cataloging & Metadata Services on cataloging materials. This position also develops instruction, workshops, and tutorials on the use of government information, supports teaching and research needs through expertise in government resources, and identifies opportunities for outreach and promotion. As part of the information services department, the candidate will also develop, deliver and assess instruction for the Freshman Writing Program and participate in on-call and evening rotations. Required qualifications: • Master’s degree in Library & Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution • Minimum of three years professional library experience working with government information • Knowledge of current trends in government information and the rules and regulations of Federal Depository Library Program • Knowledge of trends and services in academic libraries to support undergraduate and graduate education • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in information literacy instruction and information technologies • Awareness of new and emerging technologies and how they can be utilized in an academic library • Ability to successfully initiate, track, and manage projects • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, students and staff Preferred qualifications: • Supervisory experience • Experience providing reference/instructional services in an academic library setting, teaching experience, or knowledge of instructional methods • Experience in developing tutorials and learning objects To Apply: Please apply online at https://facultyjobs.ua.edu/.
