Federal Relations Luncheon Program
Intellectual Property Legislative Update
Introduction
Convened by Fred Heath, Chair
ARL Information Policies Committee
Good afternoon. Welcome to our Federal Relations Luncheon Program. Our luncheon speaker today is a familiar face to many of you. Peter Jaszi is a professor of law at the Washington College of Law of the American University. He is an advisor, partner, and colleague on a host of copyright and intellectual property issues. He was, as many of you know, instrumental in the founding of the Digital Future Coalition three years ago. He also works closely with Prue Adler on database, licenses, and copyright issues.
Peter is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School and is an experienced litigator in the field of copyright law. He lectures frequently to professional groups in the United States and abroad, has served as trustee of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A., and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Educators ad hoc Committee on Copyright. In 1993 he was a member of the Library of Congress Advisory Committee on Copyright Registration and Deposit (ACCORD).
Today he will update you on the rapid developments in Washington. Upon the conclusion of his remarks, Mr. Jaszi will answer any questions you might have. Please join me in welcoming Peter Jaszi.
