Dr. Schement presented data to describe and predict demographic changes in general as well as in the university sector of American society. He also described future graduate students since that is the pool where research libraries typically draw many employees. He pointed out the constraints that research libraries will face because of a pool projected to be very small and urged the audience to think more broadly to recruit for the future.
