John Hopkins University

• G. Sayeed Choudhury is the Associate Dean for Library Digital Programs and Hodson Director of the Digital Research and Curation Center at the Sheridan Libraries of Johns Hopkins University. He is also the Director of Operations for the Institute of Data Intensive Engineering and Science (IDIES) based at Johns Hopkins. He is also a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins, a Research Fellow at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Senior Presidential Fellow with the Council on Library and Information Resources.

Choudhury serves as principal investigator for projects funded through the National Science Foundation, Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. He has oversight for the digital library activities and services provided by the Sheridan Libraries at Johns Hopkins University. Choudhury has published articles in journals such as the International Journal of Digital Curation, D-Lib, the Journal of Digital Information, First Monday, and Library Trends. He has served on committees for the Digital Curation Conference, Open Repositories, Joint Conference on Digital Libraries, and Web-Wise. He has presented at various conferences including Educause, CNI, DLF, ALA, ACRL, and international venues including IFLA, the Kanazawa Information Technology Roundtable and eResearch Australasia. • Dr. Robert J. Hanisch is a Senior Scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute, Baltimore, Maryland, and is the Project Manager for “Building the Framework for the National Virtual Observatory,” an initiative funded by the National Science Foundation. In the past twenty years Dr. Hanisch has led many efforts in the astronomy community in the area of information systems and services, focusing particularly on efforts to improve the accessibility and interoperability of data archives and catalogs. He was the first chair of the International Virtual Observatory Alliance Executive Committee (2002-2003) and continues as a member of the IVOA Executive. From 2000 to 2002, he served as Chief Information Officer at STScI, overseeing all computing, networking, and information services for the Institute. Prior to that he had oversight responsibility for the Hubble Space Telescope Data Archive and led the effort to establish the Multimission Archive at Space Telescope—MAST—as the optical/UV archive center for NASA astrophysics missions. He has served as chair of the Program Organizing Committee for the Astronomical Data Analysis Software and Systems conferences, chair of the Space Science Data Systems Technical Working Group, chair of the Astrophysics Data Centers Coordinating Committee, and chair of the Publications Board of the American Astronomical Society.

He is currently co-chair of the US Decadal Survey Study Group on Computation, Simulation, and Data Handling, chair of the IAU Commission 5 Working Group on Virtual Observatories, Data Centers, and Networks and co-chair of the Working Group on Libraries, and chair of the AAS Working Group on Astronomical Software. In 1999 Hanisch was a visiting professor at the Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS), France, and was a consultant to the National Academy of Sciences Astronomy and Astrophysics Survey Committee panel on Theory, Computation, and Data Exploration, whose Decadal Survey report gives first priority to the creation of the National Virtual Observatory. He completed his Ph.D. in Astronomy in 1981 at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Indiana University

• Jennifer Laherty is the IUScholarWorks Librarian at Indiana University. She manages the content in the open access institutional repository and supports OA journal publishing endeavors by working with faculty who are editors of both newly conceived journals and established journals.

Jennifer has a hodgepodge of library experience including collection development officer, acquisitions coordinator, general reference and undergraduate instruction librarian, and has collected in a variety of disciplines.

• Jason Baird Jackson is an ethnographer whose work bridges the fields of folklore, cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology and ethnomusicology. He has collaborated with Native American communities in Oklahoma since 1993, when he began a lifelong personal and research relationship with the Yuchi people. His studies concern, most centrally, the nature of customary arts, practices and beliefs and the role that these play in social life.

He presently serves as an Associate Professor of Folklore at Indiana University and the editor of two scholarly journals: Museum Anthropology, a journal published by the Council for Museum Anthropology, a section of the American Anthropological Association; and the open access journal Museum Anthropology Review. In addition, he is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Anthropology and an affiliated faculty member in the American Studies Program and the Cultural Studies Program, all at Indiana University. http://jasonbairdjackson.com/
