Programs 4A and 4B in the webinar series will focus on organizing and training the library staff and librarians to achieve library scholarly communications roles. Speakers will address shifting roles of libraries and the infrastructure needed to sustain programs, allocating/reallocating staff resources, and building internal education programs to support outreach efforts. Program 4A will focus on shifting staff roles and Program 4B will focus on education and training.
Program 4A will focus on the shifting roles of libraries and their staffs, specifically as it relates to broader involvement in scholarly communications activities. Speakers will discuss how libraries are conceiving of their work differently and how they are filling these needs. Case studies will highlight the time and energy scholarly communications activities are taking at their institutions and how the work is managed.

Program 4B will focus specifically on the roles of librarians in education and outreach regarding scholarly communications issues. Presenters will discuss how to prepare librarians to take on this new challenge, providing them with the tools and training to speak confidently and answer questions about scholarly communications issues. How disciplinary differences factor into librarian education also will be discussed.
