Janna started as Program Officer for SPARC European Programs in March 2012. 

 

She is the contact point for SPARC Europe’s members and partner organizations and is responsible for the administration and organization of the European office. Janna is also responsible for SPARC Europe’s online communication and the development of information material for Open Access in Europe.

 

Before joining SPARC Europe, Janna was the Operations Manager at Euroscience, responsible for the management of most Euroscience activities, including the European TV & New Media Festival, the European Young Researchers’ Award and Euroscience Open Forum’s (ESOF) Career Program. At Euroscience, she also coordinated the local sections and work groups, dealt with different FP7 projects and collaborated closely with European research organizations on issues, such as, gender equality, open access, mobility of researchers and research integrity. 

 

With an MSc in Public Administration focusing on policy analysis and evaluation (Gothenburg University, Sweden), she has always been interested in making the link between politics and the public, which has later developed into an interest in bridging science and society. Janna concluded her studies with a field study on a gender equality project in Jakarta, Indonesia. It resulted in a Master thesis focusing on women in leadership position and how to convey a gender equality concept from one country to another.
