• Worldwide call for free and open access to European research results: Over 10,000 individuals sign petition to European Commission to guarantee public access to publicly funded research (January 29, 2007)
• Research Councils UK - In June 2006, Research Councils UK published their proposed access policies, stating, “Ideas and knowledge derived from publicly funded research must be made available and accessible for public use, interrogation and scrutiny, as widely, rapidly and effectively as practicable.” See the SPARC statement.
