Patrick Alexander, Penn State University Press

Patrick Alexander is the associate director and editor-in-chief of The Pennsylvania State University Press and the codirector of Penn State University Libraries’ Office of Digital Scholarly Publishing. He has been involved in academic publishing for nearly twenty-five years, having worked previously for Walter de Grutyer, Brill Academic
Publishers, and Hendrickson Publishers.

Maria Bonn, University of Michigan Library

Maria Bonn is Director of the Scholarly Publishing Office, a library-based publishing effort that creates tools and methods in support of sustainable scholarly publishing. SPO publishes twenty online journals, publishes monographs under a joint imprint with the University of Michigan Press, manages a robust reprint program and is currently investigating opportunities for
institutionally-based textbook publishing.  It also advises
University of Michigan faculty on new modes of publishing.

Laura Cerruti, University of California Press

Laura Cerruti is Director of Digital Content Development at University of California Press. She is involved in researching the new kinds of publications scholars will create as the product of scholarly research in a digital environment and in testing methods for legitimizing, distributing, and sustaining these new forms.

Raym Crow, SPARC

As a Senior Consultant for SPARC, Raym Crow explores alternative business models to sustain both open access and affordable scholarly publishing. His work includes guides to publishing open access journals, sponsorship programs for nonprofit journals, publishing cooperatives, and partnerships between libraries, university presses, societies, and other nonprofit publishers. Raym Crow is also Managing Partner
of the Chain Bridge Group.

Teresa Ehling, Cornell University

In concert with the Library’s senior management, the University Press, and the University administration, Teresa has worked to establish a ecumenical publishing agenda for the university. As Executive Director for Project Euclid, she isrResponsible for the administration and overall management of the Project, a complex, collaborative, non-profit on-line journal publishing initiative for mathematics and statistics.

Mike Furlough, Penn State University Libraries

Mike Furlough is Assistant Dean for Scholarly Communications and the Co-Director of the Office of Digital Scholarly Publishing, a collaborative venture with the Penn State Press.  At Penn State he is responsible for developing programs and library services in of digital content stewardship, including support of campus-based
publishing, digital scholarship in all fields, and preservation.

Karen Hill, University of Michigan Press

Karen Hill is the Digital Manager and Assistant Director at University of Michigan Press. Karen is the press project leader for digitalculturebooks.org, a collaborative online and open access project in new media that operates in partnership with the Scholarly Publishing Office (SPO) at the University of Michigan Library. In addition, Karen, SPO project leader Maria Bonn, and other university colleagues, including digitization specialists
and graduate student Malisa Lewis from the university's
School of Information, are collaborating on a digital
archive of press content for the Hathi Trust.

Rebecca Kennison, Columbia University

As Director of Columbia University’s Center for Digital Research and Scholarship (CDRS), part of Columbia University Libraries/Information Services (CUL/IS), Rebecca is responsible for developing the programs and services of the center and for coordinating these efforts with other divisions within CUL/IS. Her primary objective for the center is to facilitate scholarly research and the communication of that research through technology solutions, and she and her team work on innovative projects with faculty and researchers to address the issues that affect them.

Monica McCormick, New York University

Monica McCormick is Program Officer for Digital Scholarly Publishing at New York University. She works with NYU Libraries to develop digital publishing services for the university community and with NYU Press to develop strategies for the transition to a hybrid business model of both print and e-content. She also supports collaborative ventures between the Libraries and Press.

Catherine Mitchell, California Digital Library

Catherine Mitchell is Director of the California Digital Library’s eScholarship Publishing Program at the University  of California.  eScholarship supports the University  of California scholarly community with innovative digital publication and distribution services through the development of advanced technologies and creative partnerships, most recently with UC Press.

Jennifer McLennan, SPARC (Managing Editor)

As Director of Communications for SPARC, Jennifer has responsibility for communications oversight in all of the coalition's endeavors, as well as for managing key projects and aspects of SPARC operations. Jennifer is currently completing her MBA with a research project on campus-based publishing.

Shana Kimball is a project manager in the Scholarly Publishing Office (SPO) of the University of Michigan Library. Her work for SPO encompasses a wide range of duties, from design to marketing and communications to editorial oversight. Most significantly, she manages the Library's joint imprint with the University Press, as well as the day-to-day relationship with that Press; oversees the development of SPO’s monograph publishing activities; and is the managing editor of The Journal of Electronic Publishing.
