• SPARC calls on campuses to coordinate open-access policy effort

Last month, the University of Kansas became the first public university in the U.S. to adopt a policy to ensure free and open access to the results of the institution's research outputs. As a growing number of colleges and universities embark on the path toward an institutional open-access policy, SPARC invites libraries to take advantage of a new Web resource built to leverage experience gained in establishing such policies to date.

5. Resources for Publishers

• Index of campus-based publishing partnerships - now online

The Scholarly Communication Program, based at Columbia University Libraries/Information Services' Center for Digital Research and Scholarship, now offers an index of campus-based publishing partnerships. The index employs framework and data from "Campus-based publishing partnerships: A guide to critical issues" by Raym Crow, and is part of the Campus-based Publishing Resource Center organized by the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC).

6. SPARC Resources for Students

• New student section of the SPARC website goes live!

Earlier this month, an updated version of the student section of the SPARC website went live.  The new webpage highlights a shift in SPARC's student outreach strategy to target a broader student audience and engage those students who may be unfamiliar with Open Access.  The site was developed with input from many of the signatories of the Student Statement on the Right to Research and has already proven useful in recruiting new student groups.
