Sharing enables new research to build on earlier findings. It not only fuels the further advancement of knowledge, it brings scientists and scholars the recognition that advances their careers. In the digital world, the ways we share and use scholarly material are expanding — rapidly, fundamentally, irreversibly.
Online archives of universities, colleges, funding agencies, and other institutions — known as “repositories” — are key components of the emerging digital research infrastructure and can help ensure the widest possible sharing of your works. These repositories collect, preserve, and provide free, unrestricted online access to all types of institutional research outputs — seamlessly linking data, knowledge, and scholars.

5. Resources for Publishers
SPARC is developing a guide for library-based publishing programs. The guide will cover program mission and rationale, scope, policies, funding models, technical platform options, and other practical issues. 6. SPARC Resources for Students
The Right to Research Coalition hosted its 2nd Annual Student Summit this month on August 7th. Student leaders from across the country came to Washington, DC to discuss the progress the Coalition has made over the past year and chart its course moving forward. Topics discussed included the Coalition's new website, Open Access Week 2010, international expansion, and expansion into Open Educational Resources. The summit was a great success and will provide significant momentum for the Coalition as it enters its second year.
