4. Resources for Authors

Sharing enables new research to build on earlier findings. It not only fuels the further advancement of knowledge, it brings scientists and scholars the recognition that advances their careers. In the digital world, the ways we share and use scholarly material are expanding — rapidly, fundamentally, irreversibly.

Online archives of universities, colleges, funding agencies, and other institutions — known as “repositories” — are key components of the emerging digital research infrastructure and can help ensure the widest possible sharing of your works. These repositories collect, preserve, and provide free, unrestricted online access to all types of institutional research outputs — seamlessly linking data, knowledge, and scholars.

5. Resources for Publishers

On Wednesday, February 17, Catherine Mitchell (CDL) and Laura Cerutti (UC Press) joined us to review the progress of the UCPubS program, including the motivations behind their library-press collaboration, the specific services UCPubS provides, their outreach efforts across the campuses, the challenges they’ve encountered so far, and how other presses and libraries can build on this experience.

6. SPARC Resources for Students

This month, the Right to Research Coalition has been very active on Capitol Hill advocating for the issue of public access and, specifically, the Federal Research Public Access Act (FRPAA).  The Coalition has had a number of great conversations in both House and Senate offices regarding just how important access to the results of federally funded research is for students.  We invite you to join the Right to Research Coalition in advocating for FRPAA, which you can do through the Alliance for Taxpayer Access' Legislative Action Center at http://www.taxpayeraccess.org/issues/frpaa/index.shtml.
