We work with member libraries, higher education associations, disability organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and international organizations on promoting and implementing effective public policies that provide access to knowledge for people with physical or cognitive disabilities. Our work in this area includes:
- Advocating for the successful passage of the Marrakesh Treaty for the Visually Impaired and exploring effective cross-border exchanges of accessible formats to greatly enhance access to information resources globally.
- Developing the Web Accessibility Toolkit.
- Creating other resources for the research library community, such as the Report of the ARL Joint Task Force on Services to Patrons with Print Disabilities, which outlines a framework, identifies critical partners, and raises awareness in the community around inclusive design of technology and services.
