Columbia University Libraries is seeking a dedicated, talented and energetic person for the position of the head of its newly created Web Services group. This position supervises a team of three professional developers / designers and one librarian and provides comprehensive leadership for, and participates in, the management of the Libraries' overall web publishing program. The position plays a vital role in working with a variety of stakeholders across the institution as well as end users to ensure that the Libraries' web presence is effective and innovative and meets current standards of accessibility, responsive design, usability, and assessment. The position participates in Libraries and campus-wide committees and task forces and provides guidance to the Libraries' leadership about how the web program can support the Libraries' ongoing public presence and its evolving strategic priorities.
Requirements for the position include a Master's degree in library / computer science or equivalent; a knowledge of web design and development principles; skill in project management, consensus building, and problem solving; demonstrated experience with web Content Management System
implementation & management strategies; demonstrated experience with user testing principles, techniques and tools; ability to troubleshoot HTML source code, CSS, and Javascript for basic
webpage displays; ability to create simple web graphics using standard graphic design tools; experience in an academic / research library.
Desirable qualifications include:  advanced academic degree in a subject area requiring research or scholarship; excellent writing skills; experience with Adobe's AEM web content management platform; experience with user-centered design techniques and tools; significant experience in the design, development & management of complex websites; ability to perform moderately complex coding using HTML, CSS and Javascript.
