Collection Assessment Librarian The University of South Carolina Libraries invites applications for the new, tenure-track faculty position of Collection Assessment Librarian. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Collections, the Collection Assessment Librarian will lead the Libraries’ efforts to strategically develop and implement assessment activities across its print, electronic, and new media collections. The librarian will collaborate with colleagues throughout the University Libraries, including subject liaison librarians, special collections curators, and the Libraries’ Assessment Team, to evaluate current holdings, plan for future development, review and revise collections policies and procedures, and demonstrate the value of the Libraries’ collections to stakeholders within and beyond the university. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, tenure-track, faculty status position with the rank of Librarian. Benefits include medical, dental, state retirement or optional retirement plan. Responsibilities • Providing expert guidance and support for a variety of collection assessment projects • Implementing data-informed and user-focused assessment methodologies to help ensure the Libraries’ collections align with the university’s strategic priorities • Providing evidence-based support for the selection of library materials across all format types • Investigating and recommending new opportunities for strategic resource-sharing partnerships • Working collaboratively throughout the Libraries to improve discovery of and access to collections • Participating in the Libraries’ efforts to enhance communication, engagement, and collaboration with faculty, students, and other stakeholders with regard to library collections • Serving on collections-related project and standing teams As a tenure-track faculty member, it is expected the successful candidate will fulfill requirements in librarianship, service and scholarly activity as described in University Libraries tenure criteria. Qualifications Required: • Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution in the US or Canada • Experience with and/or education in assessment methodologies and techniques, especially as related to library collections • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences • Evidence of outstanding collaborative skills and commitment to teamwork • Commitment to ongoing professional development and skill-building Preferred: • Experience with and/or education in data visualization • Experience working in an academic library Apply online at https://uscjobs.sc.edu/postings/57390 (Posting #FAC00046PO19).
