The New York Public Library is searching for a dynamic Curator to manage and promote the collections in history, social sciences, and government documents. This role provides an opportunity to work with colleagues and collections that are among the strongest in the United States.
The Curator will work collaboratively with staff across the NYPL Research Libraries to coordinate the development of the collection and the delivery of research services that help position the Library as a vital resource to support learning, creativity, scholarship, and enterprise. The Curator will serve as the primary spokesperson for the collection, build partnerships with academic and other institutions, and engage researchers of all ages with the collections.
Requirements:
MLS/ MLIS and an advanced degree in history or the social sciences OR a PhD and relevant experience
3-5 years of experience in an academic or research library
Experience developing and managing collections development
Strong commitment to public service and engagement
Familiarity with curation of exhibitions and public programming preferred
