General Description: The Director of the Clermont College Library provides leadership that supports the unique needs of its vibrant regional campus college community. This individual will ensures the delivery of innovative programs, services and collections in a student-centered environment, both in-person and online. They will be directing the work of the Clermont College Library and supervises librarians and staff. This individual works collaboratively to engage with Clermont College faculty to develop, support, and create a responsive suite of library services and collections vital to the needs of its college community. The director will be responsible for building external relationships, conveying the library’s mission and goals to the broader community. Relationship/Authority: Reports to and receives direction from the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, with dotted line reporting to the Dean of the University of Cincinnati Libraries. Supervises all staff and library faculty of the Clermont College Library. Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Plans, directs, and evaluates programs, services, and library collections in support of students and faculty, both in person and online.
  2. Responsible for library operations and management of the facility, including technology, equipment and budgetary needs. Makes recommendations for improvement, expansion and planning of library facilities and technology.
  3. Engages with students and faculty to ensure outstanding teaching, outreach, and liaison services. Evaluates and assesses all library services and programs.
  4. Evaluates library collections and oversees collection maintenance in consultation with faculty.
  5. Leads the library’s strategic planning process, integrating the library’s mission and goals with the college’s academic mission and goals.
  6. Coordinates with college administration and development officer to build relationships, enthusiastically conveying the library’s mission and goals to external stakeholders.
  7. Participates in the library liaison program, consulting regularly with faculty in designated departments regarding information literacy instruction and the selection and assessment of library resources.
  8. Oversees development and maintenance of the library’s web presence.
  9. Ensures excellence in service provision by library faculty, staff, and student workers. Responsible for the timely and responsive performance management of all direct and indirect reports.
  10. Actively participates in college, library, and university committees, meetings and workshops as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
  1. MLS/IS degree from an ALA-Accredited program.
  2. At least five years of professional library experience in an academic library with a record of administrative advancement.
  3. At least two years of demonstrated managerial experience of library faculty or staff or intensive experience managing a signature library project or initiative.
  4. Proven ability to lead through change.
  5. Demonstrated experience with library strategic planning and program development.
  6. A record of excellence in providing library instruction to in-person and online learners.
  7. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional relationships across roles, disciplines, and units.
  8. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
  9. Ability and interest in fulfilling the requirements for tenure and promotion. Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Fundraising or grant-writing experience.
  2. Experience serving two-year, community college, or at-risk student populations.
  3. Teaching experience with Blackboard or another learning management system.
