Your job with us… Librarian – Department Head of Library Systems & Technology provides vision and leadership in development and management of all libraries systems, networks, and information technology services to ensure a robust information technology infrastructure within the Libraries. Flexibility is required to ensure the department is appropriately staffed in order to satisfy all service needs. What you bring… Requirements: Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Computer literate and technologically adept. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management or the equivalent experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering, science, or computer science or closely related degree; five (5) years of professional library experience in management or Information Technology; three (3) years of supervisory experience; demonstrated leadership experience; three (3) years of experience working with the current Microsoft Operating Systems; advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems; two (2) years of experience working with computer networking technologies, the Internet, and web technologies (e.g. HTML and CSS); Two (2) years of experience working with management of library management systems, web-scale discovery systems, and Open URL linking systems; Two (2) years of experience working with typical network authentication schemas, including Active Directory, SAML, and Shibboleth. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to foster a positive working environment and model the Libraries’ values through daily actions and behaviors. Ability to innovatively use technology and evidence-based decision-making practices to develop and implement best practice for libraries systems and technologies. Advanced project planning and management skills. Ability to lead, cultivate, and empower staff. Effective time management skills. Advanced customer experience skills. Ability to communicate effectively, including excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written skills. Ability to pay attention to detail. Ability to transfer and apply knowledge and experience to new situations. Ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions. Ability to excel in a “perpetual beta” environment, with frequent change and intelligent risk-taking.
