- Reports to the dean, and works closely with associate deans, serves as a member of the Libraries’ senior management team and contributes to long-range planning, program development and evaluation, budget formulation, and allocation of resources in support of the organization’s mission.
- Provides vision and transparent leadership for faculty, in pursuit of excellence in learning, discovery, and engagement.
- Fosters the academic growth, professional development, and recruitment and retention of diverse and talented faculty.
- Cultivates and supports mentors among faculty.
- Assess and maintain teaching and service workload equity among faculty, and oversee experiences of faculty at all levels, and particularly at the assistant and associate ranks.
- Represents the Libraries and School of Information Studies at various national and international meetings, panels, and committees, and serve on various campus committees and councils.
- As faculty member, articulates a research agenda within the areas of library and information science or information studies, resulting in a scholarly publication record required for promotion at Purdue University.
- Depending on experience, will either qualify at time of hire for tenure at rank of associate or full professor, or may be appointed in a tenure-track position at rank of associate professor, with a four-year tenure probationary period.

- Have obtained a Master’s degree in library or information science (the terminal degree in library or information science) from an ALA accredited program with relevant experience or terminal degree in a related discipline with relevant experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and intercultural skills, and the ability to prioritize and adjust in a dynamic environment.
- Teaching experience.

- Salary commensurate with experience in the context of Purdue University’s salary structure.
- Faculty position with 12-month administrative appointment. Rank of associate or full professor. Start-up funds in support of research are provided.
