The Metadata Librarian for Latin American Resources provides expertise to support all processes and workflows for resources description of the Libraries' physical and digital Spanish-language collections. This position is posted as an Assistant Librarian and Librarian, depending on qualifications. Please see the application link for full qualifications. Responsibilities include:
  • Creates descriptive metadata for digital content and participates in migration of legacy content to new platforms. Recommends appropriate metadata standards, develops workflows, and creates processes and pathways for certifying the quality control of metadata created by others. May provide metadata consultation and project analysis services for faculty and other colleagues in support of digital scholarship techniques in learning, teaching, and research. Trains other library staff on development of descriptive metadata for digitized material.
  • Provides original description and complex copy cataloging of all formats of library materials. Creates, edits, and maintains bibliographic and authority records that adhere to current standards.
  • Undertakes project-based work as required to accommodate wider policy and procedural changes.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in resources description for physical and digital content.
