Position Discription: The UNC Health Sciences Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a collaborative, proactive, enthusiastic, and service-oriented candidate for the position of Liaison, Statewide Health Engagement to partner with UNC initiatives that aim to improve the health of North Carolinians through evidence-based information expertise. As both a team member and working independently, the liaison will be integral in identifying information needs, maintain outreach to faculty, and providing expertise in support of research needs. Statewide Initiatives in which the Liaison can connect include: health literacy, Interprofessional Education & Practice, rural health, and health equity research. The successful candidate will provide information and education services using a variety of methods and technologies, participate in systematic review services, and contribute to other initiatives with staff from across the libraries. In liaising with the NC AHEC Program Office (https://www.ncahec.net/) and the Health Sciences Library (HSL) (https://hsl.lib.unc.edu/),this position will fulfill mission-oriented initiatives and core ongoing work in support of the AHEC Digital Library. In this role, the liaison will oversee AHEC ADL staff, will collaborate with the HSL to find solutions to North Carolina’s health care providers’ information, research, teaching, learning, and practice needs, and serve as the primary communication conduit between AHEC and HSL Leadership. In addition, having a partnership with NC AHEC since 1972, the Library has led the design, development, and collections-related roles in support of the AHEC Digital Library.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Education Requirements: Master’s degree in Library or Information Science or informatics from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Qualifications and Experience: REQUIRED Master’s degree in Library or Information Science or informatics from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience Minimum of two years’ experience working in a health science, medical, or hospital environment Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with library collection development Demonstrated ability to liaise at administrative levels of an organizationDemonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibilityPREFERRED Familiarity with electronic library resource acquisitions or vendor negotiationsExperience conducting literature searches Experience managing full-time staff
