The University of Oklahoma University Libraries Head of Digital Scholarship Salary Range: $64,000 to $70,000 The University of Oklahoma Libraries seeks to recruit a Head of Digital Scholarship. This position will engage with campus entities to identify innovative and evolving digital tools and resources that advance scholarly investigation, while building upon the traditional cornerstones of research methodologies in the arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines. The Head of Digital Scholarship will collaborate with faculty participating in projects and initiatives funded by colleges and will be a change agent, partner, educator and resource person for liaison librarians and special collections personnel involved in facilitating faculty and student digital projects. The position will be expected to conduct regular environmental scans of the campus environment to identify emerging areas of interest. Required Qualifications Required Education/Experience: Master’s degree in library science or related field and 12 months of experience working with digital scholarship research tools and techniques and demonstrated ability to teach others how to use such technology. Skills: • Ability to work with and lead diverse groups of people in respectful, equitable and inclusive ways. • Experience working in an interdisciplinary academic environment. • Familiarity with research methodologies across a variety of disciplines. • Experience working with students and faculty members on digital scholarship projects. • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively in a diverse and fast-paced environment. • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to service excellence. • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be self-directed, a proven commitment to innovation and creativity. • Demonstrated record of effective project management. • Evidence of strong organizational, project, and time management skills to lead multiple projects. • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications • Advanced degree (MLS or MLIS, MS, Ph.D.) or significant progress toward doctorate (ABD) in digital arts, humanities or social sciences, library and information science, or interdisciplinary field. • Understanding of the academic library’s role in research, teaching, and learning; knowledge of higher education and curriculum; understanding of the role of new and emerging technologies on the ongoing development and evolution of new library services and digital scholarship. • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques applied to scholarly research. • Experience in working with open source software solutions. • Experience developing and administering programs, events, and collaborative research projects. • Experience in working with faculty and students on grant applications. • Experience managing grants. • Experience with digital scholarship research tools and approaches (image analysis, augmented reality, etc). • Experience in developing a multifaceted program for a multidisciplinary constituency. • Knowledge of data mining and data visualization research and tools.
