The system consists of 42 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of 300 graduate programs, over 70 professional programs, and more than 700 undergraduate degree programs. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year. The University of Toronto Scarborough is a growing campus on the eastern edge of Scarborough with over 13,000 full and part-time undergraduate students and a growing graduate student body. The UTSC Library is integrated into the UTL system but operates independently, developing its own services and programs. The BRIDGE is a joint venture between UTSC’s Department of Management and the UTSC Library. The BRIDGE is a U of T accelerator focused on student formation, and a pathway for industry and community partnerships. The Opportunity The University of Toronto Scarborough Library invites applications for an innovative and highly motivated service-oriented librarian for the position of Management Liaison. The successful candidate will provide information literacy instruction in the UTSC Library and The BRIDGE in management, economics, and entrepreneurship to develop critical and effective users of information, data, and scholarly resources. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Library Services, The BRIDGE, the successful candidate will work collaboratively to support the learning and research needs of the Department of Management, Management Co-op, Arts & Science Co-op, and the UTSC community of entrepreneurs. The successful candidate will also work with colleagues to support the integration of research and data skill development in experiential education and work-integrated learning in The BRIDGE and will have the opportunity to work on other projects as capacity and interest allows. Librarians at the UTSC Library frequently collaborate with colleagues across the tri-campus on shared committees and projects as well as to share knowledge and experiences. RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Provide instruction on library resources and the research process. ● Conduct reference and research consultations with students and faculty. ● Develop, manage and assess UTSC library collections related to management, business, and economics. ● Actively promote library services, resources, and events to faculty, staff, and students. ● Plan and execute innovative events, workshops, and co-curricular activities. ● Work with appropriate library functional specialists to support faculty’s instruction and research needs. ● Serve on library and faculty committees and working groups within the library, on the UTSC campus and at the tri-campus level as needed. ● Remain current with and implement, as required, emerging concepts in scholarly communication, research data management, and instructional technology. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • An accredited degree from a Master’s level program in library and information studies. • Solid understanding of academic library services, trends, and best practices within management, business, and economics librarianship specifically and in academic librarianship generally. • Demonstrated research skills and knowledge of key tools and databases in management, business, and economics studies. • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and effective applications of equity, diversity, and inclusion. • Knowledge of the principles of information literacy and how they can be applied in an academic setting. • Knowledge of collection development practices. • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and communication skills. • Outstanding service orientation. • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and ability to innovate and adapt to a changing environment. • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous learning. • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Relevant experience with teaching and research support. • Outreach experience promoting library services and resources • Experience working collaboratively with faculty and students. • Familiarity with accessing and using statistics and data such as census, financial, and economic data as well as research data management practices. • Experience creating content for online instruction such as video tutorials, online learning objects, and LibGuides. • Experience supporting the development of diverse, inclusive, accessible learning environments and programming. MINIMUM SALARY: Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate must qualify for appointment at the Librarian I or Librarian II.
