The Sound Recordings Cataloging Librarian will develop and maintain local policies and procedures for cataloging audiovisual materials, both physical and digital, in the William and Gayle Cook music library. Cook Music Library supports musical performance, teaching, learning, and research on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University, primarily in the Jacobs School of Music, a world-renowned center of musical excellence. The library provides collections, services, and environments that lead to intellectual discovery, growth, and artistry. RESPONSIBILITIES: Working closely with librarians and staff in the music library, the Sound Recordings Cataloging Librarian will: Participate in the process of cataloging, preserving, and archiving audiovisual materials for the music library and provide original cataloging for Indiana University Jacobs School of Music performance recordings and videos; Provide original cataloging of sound recordings and videos in all formats, including compact discs, LPs, reel-to-reel tapes, cassettes, digital audio tapes, streaming audio and video, video cassettes, DVDs, and video laser discs; Remain current with the constantly changing body of music cataloging rules and interpretations, including AACR2, RDA, MARC 21, LCSH, and LC classification; Participate in national cooperative cataloging initiatives: OCLC National Level Enhance, PCC/BIBCO and the NACO Music Project QUALIFICATIONS Required: ALA-accredited graduate degree in library or information science; or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline and appropriate experience in an academic setting will also be considered.; Three years of previous music library experience; Previous sound recording cataloging experience using AACR2, RDA, OCLC, MARC format for music materials, and MARC authorities format; Good organization skills and an aptitude for analytical and detailed work; Ability to meet the requirements of a tenure-track position at the IU Libraries (https://libraries.indiana.edu/file/promotion-and-tenure-criteria-iub-librarians-pdf) For complete posting with additional responsibilities, required and preferred qualitfications, and benefit programs information go to https://libraries.indiana.edu/job-postings-librarians.
