UCSF FRESNO Director of Research UCSF Fresno is seeking a full time faculty member to serve as Director of Research for the California Statewide AHEC Program. Applicants must have a M.A. or equivalent degree, or higher level of training in a health-related field, teaching experience, health services research and have several publications in peer reviewed literature. Applicants should have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Microsoft Access and be experienced in the use of packaged statistical software such as IBM/SPSS, SAS, or Stata. They should have the ability to work on all facets of data collection, management, analysis and write-up of complex data sets, ability to complete and prepare literature reviews using electronic based reference systems; prepare grant applications for submission to extramural funding agencies. Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining an active research agenda; preparing to submit grant applications for the AHEC program in support of related research and service initiatives; preparing manuscripts; providing study design and statistical support; evaluating and refining investigative methods; health professions curriculum development, teaching of health professions students enrolled in AHEC programs, and leading studies and educational initiatives for local or external constituents. A minimum of (3-5) years’ experience required in a similar work environment preferably in a GME or UME academic program. Faculty appointment with UCSF will be commensurate with the applicant’s background and accomplishments. The AHEC Program is housed within the Department of Family and Community Medicine. This position reports to the AHEC Director. UCSF Fresno has active graduate and undergraduate medical education programs and maintains clinical practice in a large urban medical center and multiple hospital and health center partners throughout the region. The position is based in Fresno, an affordable community surrounded by limitless recreational opportunities and spectacular scenery. While there is much to see and do in Fresno, the city is ideally located for fast, convenient getaways to the majestic Sierra (just 90 minutes away) as well as the scenic Central Coast, just two and one-half hours away.
