The Associate Director for Employee Engagement, Development, & Belonging leads crucial organizational enhancement functions, serving the community of UO Libraries’ employees across seven branches. This position has a core responsibility of advancing a culture that values and prioritizes equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility across UO Libraries. They will act as the primary organizational liaison to the Libraries Diversity Committee, providing meaningful partnership on strategic planning, employee engagement, and new initiative implementation. They will research, promote, and facilitate best practices in organizational culture. This position also plays a pivotal role in shared governance facilitation and faculty affairs. In collaboration with the Library Faculty Personnel Committee (LFPC), they will advise on reviewing and updating policy, as well as creating rubrics and standards for promotion procedures. They will also develop programming to support faculty through the promotion process. The Associate Director will be expected to have a high level of independence, organizational accountability, and autonomy. As the primary force in program strategy, they will launch, evaluate, and communicate long-term initiatives to leadership and the broader Libraries community; track and report achievements across multiple projects; and facilitate both informal small-group strategy sessions as well as all-personnel meetings. This position is also expected to identify and build creative solutions for new needs across UO Libraries aimed at diversifying the representation within the organization, deepening avenues for employee growth and success across programs, and expanding practices of inclusion and belonging for all.
