Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide business reference services in the Parrish Library and participate in the Libraries’ system-wide digital reference service. Acquire commercial data sets for campus in coordination with the Research Data Collections Manager. Collaborate with liaison librarians and other Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies experts to help faculty find and use datasets for their specific research agendas and provide training and documentation on specialized datasets as appropriate. Provide consultative learning opportunities and outreach including formal workshops, reference consultations, instruction sessions, and online resource guides for business information. Oversee the Libraries system-wide online reference service. Cover letter is required to be considered for this position. Required:
  • Master’s degree in Library Science (ALA accredited or equivalent)
  • Two years of experience conducting library presentations or teaching in an academic environment
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in business librarianship
  • Enthusiasm for new methods of disseminating information
  • Demonstrated interest in the application of current and emerging technologies to meet the changing needs of users
  • Strong service orientation
  • Demonstrated commitment to user instruction and to consultation with users on their information management needs
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment and on a variety of simultaneous projects
