Wayne State University Libraries seeks a STEM Librarian I to join our team! This position will serve as a subject librarian with liaison duties to assigned departments, conduct reference and subject-specific instruction, and participate in collection development. The successful candidates will have demonstrated subject knowledge, reference skills, knowledge of emerging issues in librarianship, and a commitment to collaboration.   • Serve as an information resource on policies, services, and resources:
  • Serve as their contact person when they have a library related question:
  • Provide reliable, consistent, and timely service and responses:
  • Provide discipline specific instruction:
  • Provide discipline specific reference assistance:
  • Provide discipline specific research consultations:
  • Develop collections to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the students and faculty:
  • Serve as a resource for information on scholarly communication and copyright:
  • Communicate changes in library services and resources.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program:
  • Two years of professional academic library experience:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse users and actively promote library services and resources:
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals:
  • Ability to work effectively in a rapidly moving information environment:
  • Evidence of good judgment, self-motivation, and customer service orientation:
  • Ability to meet university standards for research, publication, and professional service commensurate with Employment Security Status and promotion.
Salary & Benefits:
  • Salary and rank: Commensurate with education and experience. Annual salary minimum is $50,000 (negotiable based on experience).
