The University of Oregon Libraries is seeking its next Associate Vice Provost and University Librarian for Collections and Discovery Services (AVPUL-CDS) to move an ambitious agenda forward. Emerging from a year of pandemic-affected operations, we are rebuilding our personnel ranks and re-thinking the way we work and serve our community. The successful candidate will join a newly formed leadership team at a time when the Libraries are embarking on the development of a fresh vision and a novel strategic design for a sustainable, global, and just information future. The AVPUL-CDS will collaborate with the Libraries’ administrative team and libraries leadership team to achieve overall organizational goals and build a strong culture of collaborative leadership.

The AVPUL-CDS will be responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the Collections and Discovery Services division, which includes four departments:

  • Cataloging, Metadata, and Preservation Services
  • Digital Scholarship Services
  • Electronic Resources and Acquisitions
  • Special Collections and University Archives

The successful candidate will shape organizational structure, allocate funding to greatest effect, and leverage external partnerships to build collections and discovery services. The AVPUL-CDS will help us develop long-range and comprehensive plans around collections storage and preservation, exhibits, discovery of and access to electronic collections, digitization and preservation of all formats of collections, and growth of the library as a laboratory for scholars in the humanities and beyond.
