The University Libraries at Virginia Tech seek a collaborative, resourceful, and dynamic professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Continuing and Electronic Resources. Continuing and Electronic Resources reports to the Director of the Jean Russell Quible Department Collections and Technical Services. The assistant director provides leadership for the procurement, assessment, and management of continuing resources in both print and electronic formats, including individual and package journal subscriptions, databases, streaming services, and the management of data-driven acquisition models.

The incumbent also oversees print and electronic monographic acquisitions across a variety of platforms. The incumbent provides guidance and support in the management of the electronic resources lifecycle (trials, acquisitions, license review, knowledge base management, troubleshooting, authentication and cancellations). The assistant director exercises vision, sets goals, and guides the work of full time and part-time staff. The incumbent works closely with all members of a departmental collection management team to develop a unified strategy, best practices, and workflows for managing fee-based and open access scholarly resources that incorporate key stakeholders. The acquisition of physical collections and electronic resources is achieved across three units, acquisitions, serials, and interlibrary loan, who work in close collaboration to provide seamless access. The assistant director also oversees the library management system implementation and web-scale discovery services.
