Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) Project Coordinator

The University of Florida's George A. Smathers Libraries seeks a candidate who is a core team member on the “Revitalizing the Digital Library of the Caribbean” initiative, supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Project Coordinator will support activities related to open educational resources (OER) for instructors, students, and information professionals engaging with Caribbean collections. This year-round (12 month), time-limited position will undertake responsibility for managing a collaborative, international program to develop, evaluate, and disseminate freely available instructional materials for higher education in Caribbean Studies. Additionally, the position will oversee the creation and translation of guides documenting recommended practice and resources on topics relevant to dLOC Partners, such as digitization, conservation, copyright, etc. Working with educators and practitioners across disciplines, this position will ensure that expert work is transformed into published materials that are usable and maintainable moving forward.

As a member of the Digital Partnerships & Strategies Department, the dLOC Project Coordinator joins a team whose functional responsibility spans many core areas and that is intentionally designed to create, sustain, and foster productive partnerships for shared goals.

The library encourages staff participation in reaching management decisions and consequently the dLOC Coordinator will serve on various committees and teams. To support all colleagues, students and faculty, and foster excellence in a diverse and collaborative society, the Coordinator will bring culturally rich lived experiences to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientation, and perspectives. The dLOC Coordinator will pursue professional development opportunities, including research, publication, and professional service activities.
