Data Visualization Specialist   The Data Visualization Specialist helps researchers and project teams understand and apply data visualization techniques in their instruction and research. The specialist engages in instructional design, curriculum implementation, technology application, and assessment of data visualization learning and educational programming. The specialist offers an array of programming for audiences throughout the community and across campus to support the research agendas of faculty and students and encourage research innovation relating to data visualization and visual thinking. The specialist provides consulting services to faculty and students and collaborates with other campus units providing visualization and design services. The specialist works closely with other University Libraries faculty and staff, particularly those in the Research Services Department to increase understanding of visual data issues, ranging from preparing data for visualization to limitations of data visualization. The specialist is responsible for leveraging research software and technology resources to enhance curriculum development and research innovation. This position reports to the Data Literacy and Data Visualization Librarian. All other duties as assigned.   Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Graphic Design, Journalism/Communication, Quantitative or Qualitative Analysis, Business Analytics, or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience; At least 3-5 years of experience designing and implementing educational programming; Experience working with a variety of proprietary and open source data visualization applications, such as those used to create timelines, dashboards, infographics, charts, graphs, etc.; Experience with, and knowledge of, digital research tools and methods; Understanding of university research environments and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment; Excellent communications skills including the ability to clearly and concisely express complex work and ideas in everyday language; Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently on projects.   Desired Education and Experience: Master's degree or other advanced degree in Data Science or related field. 1-2 years of experience teaching data visualization techniques using specific software such as R, Python, Tableau, D3.js, Gephi, or advanced Excel.; 1- 2 years of teaching experience in higher education; and 1- 2 years of experience with visualizing text analysis or social media analytics.   Pay Range: $58,000 to $68,000 annually.   Application: Please submit resume, cover letter, and online application at https://osu.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/OSUCareers/job/Columbus-Campus/Data-Visualization-Specialist_R47485 by application deadline May 19, 2022.   The Ohio State University is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
