Department: User Engagement – Arts, Music, and Powell Rank and Salary: Assistant Librarian – Associate Librarian ($60,116 - $82,767) Position Availability: Immediately Application deadline for first consideration: July 5, 2022   The UCLA Library seeks a highly collaborative, user-focused Librarian for the position of Arts Library Collections Coordinator to join a multi-location, cross disciplinary team that supports teaching and all levels of research in the arts, performing arts, and related disciplines.   Position Duties Reporting to the Director of Arts, Music, and Powell Libraries, the incumbent is responsible for providing leadership in collections and scholarly communication for arts-related disciplines; coordinating collection development and management for the Arts Library in collaboration with colleagues; and teaching, research support, and outreach for arts-related disciplines, including Architecture and Urban Design.   Specific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Assignment of suballocations in the Arts Library collections budget and regular budget reporting to the team.
  • Coordinate with Unified Access Services about stacks management strategy and planning such as long-term storage allocations, access to secured collections, and environmental conditions of collections.
  • Collaborate with Library colleagues to analyze database and other resource usage and to help determine renewals.
  • Review and update collection development policies and approval plans as needed to meet changing curricular and research needs, in collaboration with AMP colleagues.
  • Provide research consultations to students, faculty, and other patrons and provide shared research services.
  • Teach information literacy and research skills.
  • Develop scaffolded information literacy interventions to meet disciplinary and course needs for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Serve as liaison for one or more departments or schools, including Architecture and Urban Design.
  • Serve as a member of a User Engagement Functional Team.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of graduate student employees (LSRAs).
  • Work closely with Library Development to identify and steward donors, collections, and endowed gift funds in Architecture and Urban Design as well as other areas, as appropriate.
  Description of Unit User Engagement (UE) brings together public services librarians and staff across three major divisions (Sciences; Arts, Music, and Powell; and Management/Humanities and Social Sciences) and five functional teams (Anti-Racism, Collections, Outreach, Research, and Teaching and Learning). The UE group is a matrixed organization designed to enhance library services through a cross-disciplinary and cross-functional approach.   The Arts, Music, and Powell division unites librarians and staff from three library locations. The unit supports research and teaching in a wide variety of subjects and at all levels, including specialized collections and services for art, architecture, theater, film and television, music, musicology, and ethnomusicology. The Arts Library is one of eight major libraries on the UCLA campus and serves undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and visiting researchers.
