Clemson University Libraries seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented Digital Archivist. The archivist will provide leadership and expertise in digital archiving, preservation, and electronic records management for the Special Collections and Archives. The department is comprised of the Manuscript Collections, University Archives, Records Management, and Rare Books. The Special Collections distinguish itself for its strong collections in university history, agriculture, and textile history.
Library faculty are members of the academic community, with responsibilities in the areas of librarianship, scholarship, and service. This is a 12-month tenure-track position accountable to the Head of Special Collections and Archives, a department in the newly created Division of Collections and Discovery. • Manages the digital content for long-term preservation and access
• Integrates proper digital forensic tools to ensure records integrity
• Develops and implements policies, standards, and procedures for the management of the digital content within the Special Collections, including but not limited to textual material, sound recordings, still and moving images, email, institutional websites and social media.
• Develops and implements standards and best practices for description, preservation, and administrative metadata in collaboration with appropriate library partners
• Engages in professional development such as attending conferences, workshops, and webinars related to job functions
Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities
• Develops a focused program of high-quality research and creative accomplishments, consistent with professional responsibilities and the Libraries' mission and goals
• Actively participates and demonstrates leadership in professional responsibilities that serve the Libraries, University, profession, and community
Salary and Benefits
Faculty rank and competitive salary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Various medical plans, dental plans, and retirement plans are available. 18 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave, 12 paid holidays, and professional development leave are provided. Library faculty receive an individual stipend for travel or other professional development activity.

The libraries employ 29 faculty, 53 staff, and over 50 students. Clemson Libraries are a member of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries and Lyrasis and actively participate with other South Carolina institutions through the statewide consortium, PASCAL. • ALA-accredited graduate degree in librarianship or SAA-accredited graduate degree in archives administration or records management, or a relevant, accredited graduate degree as deemed appropriate by the Libraries (proof of degree completion needed by date of appointment)
• Minimum of 3 years' experience with digital archives, preservation, or life cycle planning.
• Experience with and understanding of international preservation standards and best practices
• Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to keep current with standards and new technologies
• Demonstrated commitment to the promotion and enhancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications / Experience:
• Experience in an academic or research library
• Experience with digital preservation tools such as Preservica, Bitcurator, or Archive-It
• Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of collegiality, respect, trust, and teamwork
• SAA Digital Archives Specialist certificate
