As the Head of Access Services, you will provide overall leadership to the Access Services department that includes Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery, Circulation Services, and Course Reserves. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Collections and Access and serves on Libraries management and leadership groups that set priorities and goals for services. The Head keeps the Assistant Dean informed of significant issues and developments in the unit and communicates appropriate information from library administration and other library units to Access Services staff. You will also works closely with the Assistant Dean to assess interlibrary loan usage data to inform local collections decisions and to manage interlibrary loan-related budgets. This position represents Purdue in all Big Ten Academic Alliance and Academic Libraries of Indiana Resource Sharing and Reciprocal Borrowing initiatives. This position will also play an integral role in providing resource sharing and fulfillment recommendations related to the BTAA BIG Collection initiative. Education and Experience Must have:
  • Master's degree of Library Science or Library Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited program
  • Three (3) years of library access services experience required
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience (Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience).
Skills: Required:
  • Knowledge of library interlibrary loan, circulation, and course reserves practices, systems, and principles, including copyright and fair use
  • Experience creating and analyzing statistical reports
Desired:
  • Supervisory experience in a library or higher education setting
  • Experience working with ExLibris products
  • Experience working in an academic library
