Job Summary The University of Michigan Library in Ann Arbor is one of the world’s largest academic research libraries. As the Health Equity Informationist, you will develop and apply specialized health equity and diversity knowledge to provide information and engage in activities to progress toward health care equity by reducing health disparities. In collaboration with the HS-STEM team (Health Sciences - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), you will cultivate relationships with the health sciences communities and create a climate of cooperation for engagement between the library and schools, colleges, and departments in health and biomedical sciences. You will report to the Assistant Director of Academic and Clinical Engagement. What You Will Do ● Partner with our administrators and faculty on strategic development of programs and projects relevant to health equity and structural racism in healthcare, including grant-funded activities. (25%) ● Collaborate with campus community and library colleagues on instruction to support educational, clinical, and research needs. (20%) ● Provide expertise in advanced searching, including practice guidelines and systematic review searching, and data science. (15%) ● Provide consultation services that address information needs relevant to health equity, health disparities, and antiracism. (10%) ● Promote our services, collection resources, programs, and specialized technologies relevant to instruction and research in reducing health disparities and addressing structural racism in healthcare. (10%) ● Represent our department on appropriate committees. (10%) ● Participate in continuing education opportunities and stay current with literature in librarianship, health sciences disciplines, health equity, and structural racism in healthcare. (10%) You Have ● A master's degree from an ALA-accredited library/information sciences program or equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience working in a relevant field. ● Familiarity with scholarly and academic publishing practices in health sciences. ● 1+ years of experience building relationships to promote the goals of a team. ● 1+ years of experience managing several complex projects at once. ● Understanding of diversity and the importance of inclusion expressed through a commitment to apply and incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an organization. You May Also Have ● Knowledge of literature, research methods, and best practices related to health equity and health disparities. ● Relevant work experience in a health sciences library, or in a role providing outreach and service. ● 1+ years of experience developing and delivering student-centered instruction. ● 1+ years of experience with expert searching including systematic reviews. ● Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals. Additional Information Appointment is anticipated as an assistant librarian or associate librarian. Salary and rank are dependent on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The target salary range for this position is $59,500 to $62,000 for the Assistant Librarian rank and $63,000 to $73,000 for the Associate Librarian rank. This appointment is subject to the UM/LEO-GLAM collective bargaining agreement. Librarian appointments carry with them increased expectations regarding professional development, professional engagement, research, and service, in keeping with the library's process for librarian promotion and advancement.
