Arts Collection Assistant The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum Art Collections Assistant will support the work of collections management, with a primary focus on processing original art materials from recently acquired large cartoon art collections. Creates item-level descriptive records in the CGA Past Perfect database using metadata standards. Organizes and prepares material for storage following archival standards. The Project Assistant will be responsible for organizing and processing these visual art collection and input information into data management systems. Work in this position will heavily utilize Past Perfect, as well as other metadata management tools in use by OSUL. This position works under the general supervision of the Curator for Collections, in consultation with the Head Curator of the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. Consults and collaborates with others throughout the library as appropriate. All other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications • Bachelor of Arts in Arts or Humanities • At least 1- year experience in Special Collections, Archives, or Art Collection • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including cataloguers, and other library professionals, student workers, and systems/information technology staff; • Experience producing clear, effective writing; strong organizational skills; • Ability to follow instructions and complete complex tasks with a high degree of accuracy; • Effective oral communication skills; • Experience using Past Perfect Software or other content management software • Frequently works in archival storage conditions where temperatures are approximately 62 degrees F; • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and push carts weighing up to 80 lbs.
