At the rank of General Librarian, the Government Publications & Patent & Trademarks Librarian supports the programs of the Library's Regional Federal Depository and Patent and Trademark Resource Center through the provision of reference and instructional services to faculty, students, and community users. Performs complex bibliographic processing and maintenance of government documents in the online catalog and N&O process. Service on library and campus committees is expected. Other related duties and projects will be assigned. This position reports to the Head, Open Scholarship & Government Publications. Responsibilities: 30% Manages and is responsible for the entire Needs & Offers process. Serves as ASERL local administrator and maintains the documents collection by reviewing and processing lists of discards from other depository libraries in order to replace missing, lost, or damaged publications, with emphasis on maintaining our status as an ASERL Center of Excellence for the US Army Corps of Engineers. Will also work closely with Louisiana Tech and The University of Mississippi Libraries as part of the Shared Regional Agreement between Louisiana and Mississippi. 30%Actively engages with all constituents (both within the university as well as across Louisiana) to provide specialized reference services related to government information. Innovates and collaborates around government information access and use for both the university and surrounding communities. Includes participation in LSU Libraries programming events as well as coordinating tailored outreach and programming specific to the department goals and functions. May work nights and weekends as needed. 20%Regularly seeks opportunities to provide instruction and specialized services (such as workshops) to faculty and students in those disciplines appropriate to government information and the department's focus on expanding open access resources across campus. Develops and maintains discipline specific Web pages and other internet-based materials, such as tutorials and subject, topic, and course guides. 15%Serves as the contact for the state's Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC); provides reference, instruction, and outreach services related to United States Patents and Trademarks. Participates in training to remain current in patent and trademark resources and services. 5%Other duties as assigned.   Minimum Qualifications: MLIS or MLS degree from an ALA accredited institution
