ARL Seeks Director of Public Policy—Applications to Be Reviewed Starting January 15, 2019

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has a career opportunity for an experienced professional ready to lead the Association’s advocacy and public policy agenda.

The Association has a proven record of accomplishment in the area of advocacy and public policy, most notably in copyright and other forms of intellectual property; information access; diversity, equity, and inclusion; accessibility; privacy; and open scholarship. ARL seeks a policy leader to advance the advocacy and public policy agenda, and to steadily cultivate and leverage a broad base of political and public support that elevates research libraries as impactful partners in research and learning in higher education, in national and international institutions, and in society.  

Leadership experience working on Capitol Hill and with the executive branch of the US federal government for a library policy-making organization or a political or nonprofit organization related to libraries and archives, higher education, or research is required. International policy experience and relationships are highly valued for this position. An advanced degree in public affairs or law is preferable.
