Vanderbilt University appointed Joseph (Jody) Dale Combs Jr. as interim dean of libraries, effective August 1, 2014. Combs has served Vanderbilt’s library in a variety of capacities over 20 years and was named associate dean of libraries in 2010. Combs is serving as interim dean while the university conducts a search to replace Connie Vinita Dowell, who retired on July 31, 2014, after five years as Vanderbilt’s first dean of libraries. Dowell assumed the title of dean of libraries emerita upon her retirement. For more information about Combs, see the profile of Combs on the Vanderbilt website.
