The P2L Summit (invitation only)

The P2L (Publishers Reporting to Libraries) Summit will be jointly convened by the Association of American University Presses (AAUP), the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), and the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 9 and 10, 2016. This inaugural event will bring together teams of university press directors and library deans/directors with an administrative relationship (most typically involving the press reporting into the library). These teams will work in small groups in a series of working sessions to share experiences, discuss challenges, and begin to develop a set of “better” practices, documented in a white paper, for building and strengthening effective partnerships of this type.

The P2L Summit will kick off with dinner on Monday evening, May 9. Attendees will spend all day Tuesday, May 10, immersed in participatory programming designed to inspire expansive thinking on overcoming the challenges and leveraging the opportunities of library-press partnership.

Scott Waugh, executive vice chancellor and provost of the University of California, Los Angeles, will deliver a keynote to help foreground the working sessions. Monica McCormick, program officer for Digital Scholarly Publishing at New York University, will facilitate the working sessions. The executive directors of the AAUP, ARL, and CNI—Peter Berkery, Elliott Shore, and Clifford Lynch—will convene the summit.

Survey: Invitees will be required to provide answers to a short series of questions that will be used to develop session topics. The survey will become available in early March, and all attendees are asked to complete the survey by April 1, 2016.
